Two businesses are up and running in their new buildings, recently
completed by design-build team Hammerquist Casalegno and Jackola
Engineering and Architecture. The first is MacKenzie
River Pizza in Missoula and the second, Glacier Neuroscience and Spine
Center in Kalispell.
MacKenzie River Pizza, Missoula
MacKenzie River Pizza is a 5,000 sq. ft. stand-alone restaurant built
near the Grant Creek Inn at Reserve and Interstate 90 in
Missoula.
Hammerquist Casalegno broke ground on the project in March 2005.
Less than six months later, on September 1, 2005, the gourmet pizza
restaurant celebrated their grand opening.
The new restaurant manager, Ryan Fuller, says that “of all the stores
I’ve seen, I’ve never seen one with so much detail. You and I can
look at it and see a restaurant, but Steve [Owner Steve Shuel] looks at
it and sees the details like the lighting and how well the customers
can see the menu. The trim carpentry is excellent,” he said,
pointing out small design details that might go unnoticed individually
but are important to the overall appearance.
Overseeing the project, including the details, was Hammerquist Casalegno project superintendent Dustin Lohof .
The new Missoula restaurant will serve as a prototype of future
facilities including the new Kalispell store slated to start November
2005.
Glacier Neuroscience and Spine Center
The dream of three doctors, Patrick Burns, Bret Lindsay, and Donald
Stone, came true in September when the opened their new Neuroscience
and Spine Center in Kalispell in September. The facility also
includes a sleep center run by Dr. Burns on the first level of the
building.
The three-story, 15,000 sq. ft. building at 200 Commons Way, another
product of the Hammerquist Casalegno and Jackola Engineering &
Architecture design-build team, took about one year to complete.
Principal Architect Sharon Jackola designed the project around a nature
theme using simple cinder block, wood, and glass in both traditional
and modern architectural features. Sharon worked closely with the
doctors to achieve the architectural feel they wanted and Jennifer
Uskoski designed the interiors.
Kirk Hammerquist was Project Superintendent on the job.
