News

New Era at Glacier National Park

The National Park Service has selected Xanterra Parks and Resorts Inc. to take over visitor concession services in Glacier National Park. Xanterra will be basing much of its support operations in Columbia Falls. Hammerquist Casalegno has been selected to convert the former Pamida property into office space, a warehouse and a laundry center. Filling these vacant buildings will benefit the community with about 60 full time employees. Construction will be accelerated to meet their rapid transition as the main concessions contractor.

The Xanterra name has become synonymous with park and resort hospitality in pristine environments. By 2015, the company’s goals include decreasing fossil fuel use by 30 percent, increasing its use of sustainable foods to 50 percent, and decreasing its use of water by 25 percent. “It’s one of our core values, to be good neighbors”, Bob Yow, VP of Business Development said. Hammerquist Casalegno welcomes Xanterra to the Valley, we are appreciative to be selected to fulfill their construction needs as they bring their environmentally conscious company to the valley and Glacier National Park.



Project Earns Grand Award for Senior Living Design

The Retreat at Buffalo Hill, an Immanuel Lutheran Communities residence, received the Grand Award in the Senior Living by Design competition. The Assisted Living Federation of America created the competition to recognize innovative design solutions, stating entries reflect changing consumer lifestyle preferences. “It’s a cross between a Lodge and a spa. It doesn’t look like a rehab center on the outside or the inside” Judge Regnier says. However, the functional aspect of the building is what caught their eye. Project Roster Continues to Expand

Hammerquist Casalegno brings numerous projects to completion. Additions to the Peterson Elementary School and to Flathead Valley Community College enhance the learning environment for area students. Construction at NWMT Fairgrounds returns structural integrity to the stadium bleachers. We appreciate the opportunity to provide improvements to these community assets.

Our team is also assisting on several projects in varied phases of design for fall 2013 construction starts. Hammerquist Casalegno approaches each project as a true partnership with Owner’s and their Designers, our goal is to optimize the value of product and services delivered to the Owner thereby maximizing their investment potential. Collaboration Provides Successful Project Completion

The Terminal Improvements at Glacier Park International Airport was another successful Hammerquist Casalegno project in all aspects. Completion met the project schedule with minimal impact to the flying community. Hammerquist Casalegno’s diligence maintained security throughout all phases of construction. The original work scope was also completed within budget. These achievements were not without challenges, but regular project meetings with GPIA administration and engineers from CH2M Hill provided a team approach generating a combined vision, strategy and execution. Hammerquist Casalegno’s reputation is known for this high level of communication and team involvement as reflected in the following testimony. “Working with the great people of Hammerquist Casalegno on the Terminal Improvements project at GPIA has renewed my faith in the collaborative process. Whether working with Mark, John, Elizabeth, or any other employee of Hammerquist Casalegno, the “can-do” attitude to get the project done to the highest level of customer care is a testament to the tremendous depth of character and integrity entrenched into the company culture. Safety Efforts Earn Recognition

On behalf of Hammerquist Casalegno, Mark Casalegno accepts a safety award from the Montana Contractors Compensation Fund. MCCF Safety Manager/Loss Control Analyst, Tyler Bumgarner presented the 2012 Safety Recognition for Zero Losses. This ongoing reduction of risk results from the management’s commitment to safety in the work place. Hammerquist Casalegno sets high standards for safety performance to protect their greatest resource, their employees. MCCF reports that the fund incurred the lowest claims ever experienced in 2012 and the best 1st quarter ever was recorded this year. Membership with the MCCF and its proactive programs is making the construction industry in Montana a safer place.
