Scheduling Milestone is Team Effort

Mar 15, 2013

A scheduling milestone has been accomplished with completion of the Phase 1 components of the Glacier International Airport Terminal Improvement project. The newly remodeled area includes the security checkpoint, expanded secure seating area with CPU workstations and the gift shop. Natural light illuminates through the glass wall surrounding this secure expanse, with TSA-approved revolving doors providing secure exits. Upgraded surveillance cameras add to the level of security while new flight information displays provide user friendly current flight information to Flathead travelers. With the ceiling shaped to imitate the sky, new interior finishes provide a Montana experience through mountain silhouettes, alpine glow lighting, flooring mimicking a flowing river along with wood and stone accents. Two sets of main floor restrooms are back in service with their modernizing remodels completed.

This accomplishment did not come without challenges. Weekly progress meetings with terminal personnel provided a team approach in prioritizing phasing aspects to minimize passenger inconvenience. Hammerquist Casalegno is focused on solutions and results, continuing to press the construction schedule forward. Construction completion is followed with the testing of security measures, personnel training and then release to TSA and the public. We invite the public to come out and experience the improvements accomplished for your traveling convenience and comfort.

Seminar Strengthens Safety Culture

Mar 04, 2013

Hammerquist Casalegno recently sent three of their Superintendents to a NUCA Excavation and Safety Competent Person Training seminar. Excavation is the most dangerous of all construction operations, which is why OSHA requires a competent person to oversee all excavation and trenching jobsites. The competent person has the responsibility of evaluating the safety of an excavation and identifying potential hazards to protect employees. Training topics covered include definitions, general requirements, protective systems, soil classifications and handling an OSHA inspection. The Western States CAT Rental Store provides trench shoring rentals, while placing focus on reducing and preventing exposure to underground construction hazards. We appreciate the opportunity they provided through this certification seminar, protecting their customers and community.

Enhancing Education While Relieving Overcrowding

Feb 11, 2013

Resulting from a successful competitive bid, Kalispell Public Schools awards project with a Notice to Proceed issued to Hammerquist Casalegno. This 9,200 sq. ft. addition to Peterson Elementary School will relieve the overcrowding at this neighborhood school. The project scope includes four additional classrooms, a multipurpose room, restrooms and storage. The EIFS and masonry exterior elevations will reflect the school’s signature window configurations. Current preconstruction administration will be followed with ground breaking in March with completion in August. Hammerquist Casalegno is appreciative of this opportunity, enabling dedicated staff to enhance the education of their growing student enrollment.

Consultant Team Seeks Abatement Resolutions

Jan 15, 2013

Mountain Consulting Services (MCS) is providing professional evaluation for asbestos and mold abatement at the former North Valley Hospital location, which has been vacant for over half a decade. Having completed a comprehensive survey, MCS will characterize any hazards found, will conduct a risk assessment and prepare reclamation alternatives. Their recommendation will be a valuable component as the owners consider development opportunities for the property. As the project moves forward, MCS will provide the required technical specifications for the abatement sub bid documents that are being assembled by Hammerquist Casalegno. Environmental and human safety will be at the forefront of decisions as this riverfront campus is transformed into a valuable asset of the Whitefish community.
